Heliotrope:
HEE - lee - oh - trope

The word "heliotrope" is taken from the Greek: helios meaning "sun", and tropos meaning "turn".

In horticulture, it is a descriptive term for any plant that turns to follow the path of the sun as it makes its way across the sky.

It’s a concept I like to keep in mind in my practice. Each of us already has the ability to metaphorically “turn to face the sun”, and change our lives.

With hypnosis you can learn the skills necessary to find the right path, achieve your goals, and change your attitudes and ways of thinking.

“Hi Lisa,

I just wanted to check in with you and give you a status of my progress since I started seeing you. I’m now down 30 lbs (yippee!); I think I lost 15 lbs since our sessions ended and have about 30 more to go to hit my fantasy goal (but only 15 more until I’m in the *normal* range). :) For exercise: Each weekday morning I walk in to work in the mornings from a bus stop 4 stops away (about a mile) and have upped my game like you said I probably would. I found a beginning clogging class that I take once a week for fun, and it’s hysterical. I even bought myself a pair of fancy patent leather Mary Jane tap shoes…just like the pair I had as a child. In addition, I’ve taken up bikram yoga and have been going about 3x/week. It’s very intense, but I’m reaping the benefits from just a few short weeks. My energy is soaring and I can tell I’m getting stronger and leaner.

And in even *funner* news, I started dating someone 6 weeks ago! He’s a (younger) marathon runner, and being with him has really made me want to do more…with exercise, with travel, with LIFE! I’m finally finding that engagement that I wasn’t finding in front of my TV. I never would have gotten where I am without you, so I wanted to say THANK YOU and let you know I’m doing super duper because of all the help you’ve given me! :)

“Would you believe I run now? I’m training for an 8k this month and have a 10K coming up in September. You were totally right about wanting to move more once I lost some weight. I joined a gym, got a personal trainer and a running buddy. While the the pounds aren’t really melting away, the inches are (attached are 2 recent photos). I now wear 6/8 pants; the smallest I’ve EVER been as an adult (I was wearing 16s when I started seeing you). Amazing. I’m now smaller than most of my friends, and everyone is seeming to be inspired by my new fitness routine that I’ve been posting on Facebook. I’ve passed your name onto a few people, so I hope they can get their acts together to call you and get the same wonderful results I have!

Again, thanks!”

“I wanted to let you know that I have been smoke free since our last session!

Thanks again!”

– Lisa, Registered Nurse

“I’ve already lost about 20 pounds!!! (I don’t know for sure how many cause I left the scale when I moved.) Hooray! :) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can’t tell you how liberated and free I feel… I guess I knew all along I was feeling unhappy but I forced the happiness so well – fake it till you make it and all that… I miss being hypnotized and am looking for another reason to come back and see you. :) I tell everyone that it is very addicting… If someone is looking to ask about my experience, you can certainly give them my info and I would be happy to talk with them… Thanks again. I will keep in touch – you, too.”

“I just wanted to make sure I thanked you for all your help. I flew to LA and actually enjoyed the trip. I didn’t have that impending doom that I usually have. I was very relaxed – even my Morris buddies mentioned how calm I was. [It also] helped with a scary bus ride down a mountain that we did [on] our tour. Skinny roads, switch backs, and steep cliffs on huge buses. I would have had a cow before. Thanks again for everything.”

“I wanted to tell you “Thank You” with my whole heart! I still notice subtle changes in me as well as bold. Sometimes I surprise myself. I am more in touch with with myself and how I feel about things than I have ever been in my life. I am still learning a great deal about myself and that, to me, is exciting!

I have your blessed heart to thank for investing your passion for helping people in this very special way. It is helping me beyond words. I feel solid and whole. These are new feelings for me. My hidden abilities that are coming forth are amazing and I treasure them. I am assertive and confident. Things that I knew I had the ability to be but not the faith.

I pick and choose what I want to invest my knowledge and talents in. Although I feel I could take on anybody or anything, I am not an aggressive person, so I choose what is worthy of my efforts. People are one of them. There is great strength in weakness and humbleness. There is great sorrow in overbearing strength. I am finding the balance and am very content.

I look forward to much more. You are an amazing young woman. I am extremely thankful that you have been and are apart of my life.”

“After struggling for a lifetime with tremendous travel anxiety, I went to see Lisa Mills. In a few sessions Lisa empowered me to overcome these deeply embedded fears and I was able to make a 6,000 mile plane trip without any trace of anxiety. She is a compassionate and insightful healer who has helped to open up a whole world of travel possibilities for me and I am truly grateful.”

“From our first conversation over the phone you demonstrated an ease and authenticity that made talking to you effortless. Your gentle kindness and capacity to meet me wherever I was, unconditionally, made it easy to feel safe (which I deeply appreciated during acute moments of vulnerability). Thank you for your ability to be so present. When I think of your gentle, but persistent, support a smile spreads across my face and gratitude fills my heart. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate your playful (and I suspect wicked) sense of humor – huge bonus!

I called you for help getting my eating under control and you certainly did this – thank you!!! I am also delighted to report I am the recipient of many other wonderful gifts, skillfully facilitated by you. It was fun working with you. And last, but certainly not least Lisa, you ROCK!!!”

- Theressia Hazelmeyer, fundraiser

“From the moment I met Lisa Mills of Heliotrope Hypnosis, it was as though she was a long-time friend and trusted confidante. Lisa immediately created a safe and secure environment that was fundamental to me, before I could expose the dark corners of my subconscious mind.

I was delighted to find that Lisa had experience working with sexual minority clients and that she has a comprehensive view of LGBT issues. Not only did this greatly improve my comfort level, it accelerated her understanding of my hypnotherapy goals. Specifically, we worked on my negative self-talk and self esteem habits. Lisa committed substantial amounts of time, getting my personal details.

I left each of my four sessions with the sense that she had created a truly custom hypnotherapy experience. I credit Lisa with helping me gain a lasting sense of happiness and a hopeful outlook toward the future. I highly recommend Heliotrope Hypnosis to anyone committed to improvement through sincere effort, rather than seeking some form of complacent magic.”

“I’ve made changes on my eating habits already….I see how much I was ‘unconciously eating’ now… [Regarding] self esteem, I’m feeling much more positive about myself. I’m really glad you and I have had the opportunity to meet!”
